Making a DIY Meal Plan Corner Notepad

Want to make a DIY meal plan notepad that sits perfectly in the corner of your kitchen counter? This step-by-step tutorial shows you how to create a handmade corner notepad with 45-degree trimmed edges, mounted on a folding chipboard base. You’ll make two notepads — a weekly meal planner and a grocery shopping list — both with clean diagonal corners that fit together on a compact chipboard stand.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to print the pages from a Planify Pro template, trim the corners at a precise 45-degree angle, glue-bind the pages with PVA glue, and mount everything on a scored chipboard base that folds up into a standing display. It’s a great project for personal use, as a gift, or as a handmade product to sell.

The template has been designed and exported from Planify Pro. If you’re a seller interested in using templates commercially, check out the Business plan — it comes with a commercial license, 500+ patterns, graphics, fonts, templates and more.

You will need

Materials:

  • Regular Paper
  • Chipboard
  • PVA Glue
  • Double sided tape

Equipments:

  • Heavy Duty Paper cutter
  • Clips

Instructions:

  • Step 1 - Printing and cutting meal plan notepad pages to size with a paper cutter
Print the meal plan template (70 pages for each notepad) and cut all pages to size using a heavy-duty paper cutter
  • Step 2 - Marking a 45-degree trim angle on the shopping list notepad
Using a ruler and pencil, mark a 45-degree trim line on the corner of the shopping list notepad
  • Step 3 - Marking a 45-degree trim angle on the weekly meal plan notepad
Mark another 45-degree trim line on the corner of the weekly meal plan notepad
  • Step 4 - Trimming 45-degree corners off both notepads with a heavy duty paper cutter
Cut along the marked lines using a cutter or heavy-duty paper cutter to trim the corners off both notepads
  • Step 5 - Clipping notepad pages together with binder clips before gluing
Stack each notepad neatly and secure with binder clips to keep pages aligned
  • Step 6 - Applying PVA glue to the top edges of the clipped notepad pages
Apply a generous layer of PVA glue along the top binding edge of each clipped notepad
  • Step 7 - Letting PVA glue dry for 15 minutes on the notepad binding edge
Let the glue dry for 15 minutes — keep the clips on until fully dry
  • Step 8 - Cutting chipboard to size 21.2cm by 7.4cm with 90-degree corner for notepad base
Cut chipboard to size: 21.2 cm length × 7.4 cm width, with a 90-degree corner angle
  • Step 9 - Scoring chipboard with half-cuts from outside corner to inside corner to create fold line
Score the chipboard by slicing from the outside corner to the inside corner twice — cut only halfway through so the board is half-cut, not fully severed
  • Step 10 - Folding scored chipboard along the half-cut line to test the hinge
Test the fold — the chipboard should bend easily along the scored line without breaking into two pieces
  • Step 11 - Applying double-sided tape to the back of both glued notepads
Apply strips of double-sided tape to the backside of both dried notepads
  • Step 12 - Sticking both notepads onto the chipboard base with double-sided tape
Press each notepad firmly onto the chipboard base, aligning them along the edges
  • Finished DIY meal plan corner notepad with weekly meal planner and shopping list on chipboard stand
You're done! Fold the chipboard corner up and your meal plan notepad is ready to use
