Sometimes, when you export your planner, you may notice that the design is not perfectly centered inside the PDF file.
This can lead to problems when printing double-sided — like front and back pages not lining up properly.
Here’s what could cause it — and how you can troubleshoot it!
Best First Step: Contact Us! #
✨ Because this issue can be tricky and have multiple causes, we strongly recommend reaching out to us on Instagram via DM: @planifypro.
We can directly inspect your file and quickly fix the issue for you!
But if you want to try and check it yourself, here are the main causes:
1. H1 Header Problem #
When you activate an H1 header on your page (the main page title), typing in a very long sentence or too many characters can cause invisible overflow.
This overflow can stretch the PDF width slightly without you noticing it.
How to check:
-
Look at your H1 header. Is it very long?
-
If yes, go to the Text menu and reduce the H1 font size.
-
Making the header font smaller can prevent it from accidentally stretching the page width.
2. Layout Issue: Too Many Wide Columns #
When you activate Edit Layout (top left corner), you can customize the layout by setting the column widths.
If you manually set each column to, for example, 1.5 inches — but the page has 3 or 4 columns total — the system will try to fit them all in.
If the paper size is too small to fit everything, the exported PDF may become slightly wider than intended.
Result: When you print front and back, the pages won’t line up perfectly.
Solution:
-
Make sure the column width makes sense for the chosen paper size.
-
If unsure, use the default layout settings.
3. Margin Issue: Over-Adjusted Margins and Gaps #
Even if your columns fit, manually adjusting margins or widget gaps too much can create problems.
For example:
-
Making the inner margins too large.
-
Increasing the gap between widgets beyond normal limits.
Even though Planify Pro tries to stop margins from going overboard, in rare cases, it may still cause the exported PDF to be wider than it should.
Solution:
-
Recheck your margin settings under Edit Layout.
-
Keep margins and gaps reasonable, especially for small page sizes.
Summary #
If your exported PDF isn’t centered, it’s usually caused by:
-
A long H1 header stretching the page.
-
A layout with too many wide columns.
-
Margins or widget gaps that are too large.
