How to Customize the Digital Planner Background and Spine

In digital planner mode, you can style your project to look and feel like a real-life planner. From binder textures to subtle 3D shadows and tab font colors — here’s how to make your digital planner visually unique and polished.

All of these settings are located in the right-hand panel under the Digital Planner tab.

1. Planner Background Type (Binder Look) #

The first option is “Planner Background Type.”
This changes the visual look of the planner binder — similar to the cover and outer edges.

You can:

  • Click “Prev” and “Next” to browse through styles

  • Choose from leather-like textures, soft tones, dark neutrals, or fun colors

🧠 Think of this as the “binder skin” — it wraps around your digital pages.

2. Digital Planner Background Color (Behind the Binder) #

Below the planner background type is the “Digital Planner Background” setting.

This controls the flat color behind the planner binder itself — similar to the table or backdrop your planner is sitting on. It’s especially visible around the edges of the planner and gives extra contrast.

Use this to:

  • Match your workspace aesthetic

  • Create contrast between page and binder

  • Soften or emphasize your design

3. Spine Type #

This setting changes the appearance of the spine in the center of the planner — where the two pages meet.

Choose from multiple visual styles:

  • Spiral rings

  • Discbound spines

  • Clean divider look

  • Or select “Hidden” for no spine at all

It’s a visual detail only — the spine won’t affect functionality or layout.

4. Tab Text Font Color #

Want your tab labels to stand out or match your brand?

Use the “Tabs Text Color” setting to change the font color inside all tab labels.

This color applies globally to all visible tab text and helps improve readability — especially useful when using darker or brighter backgrounds.

5. Natural Shadow Effect #

For a more realistic, tactile look, you can enable the “Natural Shadow” option.

This places a soft shadow behind the digital paper, giving it a subtle 3D appearance. When enabled, it makes your planner look like it’s sitting above the background — perfect for more immersive digital planning.
