Tabs are one of the core features of a digital planner in Planify Pro. They allow your users to quickly navigate between sections like calendars, notes, or months by tapping a tab in their annotation app (like GoodNotes or Notability).
This guide explains how to add, customize, and link tabs effectively — including how to avoid broken links when inserting or deleting pages later.
Step 1: Open the Tab Settings #
-
Make sure you’re in Digital Planner Mode.
-
On the right-side menu, locate the Tabs panel.
-
Choose where to place the tabs:
-
Left Side
-
Right Side
-
Top
-
Bottom
-
Tabs will stretch across the full side they’re placed on and automatically adjust their size based on how many tabs are added.
Step 2: Add a Tab #
-
Click “Add Tab” (or the + icon).
-
For each tab:
-
Tab Text: Enter the name you want to appear on the tab (e.g., “Notes”, “Index”, “March”).
-
Link to Page: Choose how this tab should link.
-
Step 3: Choose a Linking Method #
There are three ways to link a tab to a page:
🔹 1. Link to Specific Page #
-
Manually select a page number from the dropdown (e.g., page 12).
-
⚠️ Not recommended if you plan to add/remove pages later — it will break the link since it’s tied to a fixed page number.
🔹 2. Detect Text (Recommended) #
-
Automatically links to the first page in the planner with the same name as the tab text.
-
Example: If the tab is “Notes”, it will look for the first page named “Notes”.
-
✅ Highly recommended: this ensures the link always works, even if you insert or delete other pages.
🔁 If multiple pages share the same name, it links to the first one that appears.
🔹 3. Detect Month #
-
Use this if the tab name is a month like “Jan”, “February”, etc.
-
It will find a monthly planner page, regardless of that page’s actual name.
-
Works with short or full English month names (e.g., “Feb” or “February”). For other languages, set to detect Text and rename monthly page name same as the tab name.
Step 4: Customize Tab Color & Manage Tabs #
-
You can assign a color to each tab for easier visibility.
-
To delete a tab, use the red “del” button next to it.
Each tab you’ve added will appear in a list under the settings.
Step 5: Verify the Link #
After a link is set:
-
A purple arrow will appear under the tab showing:
Link to page 5 | Notes -
Clicking the link will jump to that page — great for testing.
-
If a tab cannot find its destination, a red X icon will appear with a warning:
No page found with this tab: Index
Make sure the tab text exactly matches the page name if using Detect Text.
Tab Placement & Size Logic #
-
Tabs will always stretch evenly across the side they’re placed on.
-
Example: 4 tabs on the left side → each tab takes up ¼ of the page height.
-
You cannot manually resize or rearrange tabs.
-
To change the order, delete and recreate them in the correct order.
