Update Your Planner to 2026 — Reuse Any Design Every Year

Want to update your planner to 2026 without redesigning from scratch? Good news — you don’t have to. Updating your planner to 2026 (or any new year) in Planify Pro takes just a few clicks. Whether you created a digital planner for your Etsy shop or a printable planner for personal use, the process is the same: delete the old dated pages, update one page to the new year, duplicate it, and sync before exporting.

This is one of the most frequently asked questions from planner creators and Etsy sellers — especially at the end of each year when it’s time to refresh your shop listings. Instead of redesigning from scratch (which can take days or weeks), this method lets you reuse your entire planner design and only change the dates. Your layouts, colors, fonts, widgets, and styling all stay exactly as you designed them.

What You Need Before You Update Your Planner to 2026

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Your existing planner design open in Planify Pro (any planner from any year works)
  • A supported browser — Google Chrome is recommended for the best experience
  • About 5 minutes of your time (yes, that’s really all it takes!)

This tutorial uses a Vertical Digital Planner as an example, but the process works identically for daily, weekly, and monthly planners — horizontal or vertical, any paper size, any style.

Step 1: Open Your Existing Planner

Log into Planify Pro and open the planner you want to update. You’ll see all your pages listed in the left sidebar — monthly spreads, weekly layouts, daily pages, and any extras you designed.

If you’re starting from a template instead, you can browse the template library and pick any design. The Explore page shows all available planner templates you can customize and update to 2026.

Step 2: Delete the Old Year’s Dated Pages

This is where the magic starts. You need to remove the old dated pages (the ones with 2025 dates) so you can replace them with fresh 2026 pages. Don’t worry — your cover page, section dividers, and undated pages stay untouched.

Click the Delete Planner Pages option. You’ll see a dialog that shows your current page count (in this example, 453 pages) and lets you select which pages to delete. Choose the range of dated pages you want to remove — typically the monthly, weekly, and daily pages that contain the old year’s dates.

Tip for Etsy sellers: Keep your cover page, index page, and any undated reference pages (like goal-setting or habit tracker templates). You only need to delete the pages that have specific 2025 dates printed on them.

Step 3: Change the Year to 2026

Now navigate to your first monthly page. You’ll see it still shows the old year. Click on the date widget, and you’ll see the Widget Menu open on the right side with all your customization options.

Simply change the year from 2025 to 2026. The calendar widget automatically recalculates all the dates — days of the week shift to match the new year, and everything adjusts instantly. You don’t need to manually fix any dates.

This is where Planify Pro’s planner-specific features shine compared to general design tools like Canva — the calendar generation handles all the date math automatically. Unlike Google Calendar or spreadsheet-based approaches, Planify Pro recalculates your entire planner layout in seconds.

Step 4: Duplicate and Run Dates for All Months

Here’s where the one-click magic happens. With your updated January 2026 page selected, click Duplicate at the bottom of the sidebar. A dialog appears asking how many copies you want — you’ll see options for 1, 4, 5, 7, 28, 29, 30, 31, 62, and even up to 365 pages.

Select the number that matches your planner format — for example, 11 additional pages for a 12-month planner. Then click “Start Duplicate + Run Dates” — this single button does two things at once:

  1. Duplicates the page the number of times you selected
  2. Automatically runs the dates forward through each month (February, March, April… December)

That’s it. One click, and all 12 months are created with the correct 2026 dates.

Step 5: Update Weekly and Daily Pages to 2026

If your planner includes weekly spreads or daily pages, repeat the same process: update the first weekly or daily page to 2026, then use the Duplicate + Run Dates feature to generate the rest.

For weekly pages, the widget date settings panel gives you precise control. You can shift dates by +1 Day, +7 Days, Next Month, or Next Year — and apply changes to all widgets on the page at once.

The same applies to daily planner pages. Update one, duplicate, and let Planify Pro handle the date progression automatically.

Step 6: Sync and Export Your Updated 2026 Planner

Before exporting your updated planner, you must sync your pages. This is a critical step that ensures all hyperlinks, date navigation, and page references work correctly in your exported PDF.

Click Save/Export in the top menu. You’ll see the export panel with options for Printable, Digital, KDP, and Booklet formats. Before hitting export, click Smart Sync to synchronize all your pages.

The Smart Sync feature checks all your pages and ensures everything is connected properly. You’ll see the estimated sync time and total number of pages to process. Once syncing is complete, click Export PDF and your updated 2026 planner is ready to download.

For digital planner sellers: Choose “Single Page, GoodNotes” with “PDF Links” enabled for a hyperlinked digital planner that works perfectly in GoodNotes, Notability, and other PDF annotation apps. For KDP publishing, select the KDP format option.

Why Etsy Sellers Should Update Their Planner to 2026 Now

If you sell planners on Etsy, updating your listings annually is essential. Buyers searching for “2026 planner” won’t click on a listing that still says 2025. With this method, you can:

  • Update your entire shop in an afternoon instead of spending weeks redesigning
  • Keep your proven designs that already have reviews and sales history
  • List fresh 2026 versions early to capture planners-for-the-new-year search traffic (peak season starts in October!)
  • Create new bundles combining your updated planners with fresh seasonal designs

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I update my planner to 2026 from any previous year?

Yes. Whether your planner was originally designed for 2023, 2024, or 2025, the process is exactly the same. Planify Pro recalculates all dates automatically when you change the year — it doesn’t matter what the original year was.

Will my planner design change when I update the year?

No. Your layouts, fonts, colors, widgets, cover page, and all styling remain exactly the same. Only the dates change. This is what makes this method so powerful for Etsy sellers — your proven, best-selling design stays intact.

How long does it take to update a planner to 2026?

About 5 minutes for a standard monthly planner. If your planner includes weekly and daily pages, allow 10-15 minutes total. The Duplicate + Run Dates feature does the heavy lifting — you’re mostly just clicking buttons.

Do I need to update my planner to 2026 for each format separately?

No. You update the planner once inside Planify Pro, then export it in any format you need — Printable PDF, Digital (GoodNotes/Notability), KDP, or Booklet. One update, multiple export formats.

Can I update a planner that uses weekly or daily pages?

Absolutely. The process is the same for monthly, weekly, and daily pages. Update the first page, then use Duplicate + Run Dates to generate the rest. For daily planners, select 365 duplicates to cover the entire year.

What happens to hyperlinks and navigation after I update?

That’s what the Smart Sync step is for. Before exporting, always run Smart Sync to rebuild all hyperlinks, tab navigation, and page references. This ensures your digital planner works perfectly in apps like GoodNotes.

When should I update my planner to 2026 for best Etsy sales?

The earlier the better. Planner search traffic starts rising in September and peaks in October through December. Sellers who list their 2026 planners early capture months of search traffic that latecomers miss. Aim to have your updated 2026 listings live by September at the latest.

Can I use this method with a planner I built from a template?

Yes. Any planner created in Planify Pro — whether from scratch or from one of the 3,000+ templates — can be updated using this method. The template just gives you the starting design; once customized, it’s your planner to update year after year.
