DIY Planner Booklet: How to Make a PVA-Bound Booklet with Soft Cover

How to Make a DIY Planner Booklet with PVA Spine Binding

This DIY planner booklet tutorial shows you how to make a compact, spine-bound planner with folded signatures, PVA glue binding, a bookmark ribbon, and a soft printed cover. The finished booklet looks and feels like a professionally printed planner but is fully handmade and customizable with your own layouts and designs.

Booklet binding — where you fold sheets in half and stack them into signatures — creates a planner that opens flat and has a smooth, seamless spine. PVA glue holds the signatures together permanently, and the soft cover wraps around the outside for a clean, finished look. This is one of the most satisfying DIY binding methods because the result feels so polished and professional.

In this step-by-step guide, you will learn how to export your planner template with the booklet rearrange setting, print and fold each sheet into the correct order, stack and secure the signatures in a book press, apply PVA glue to the spine in multiple coats, attach a bookmark ribbon, and wrap the finished booklet in a custom-printed soft cover.
